Just after leaving my European Union law class, somehow i had this sudden bounce of energy that i hadn’t experienced for such a long time. Perhaps it’s the egg and tomato sandwich and ham roll i had in the middle of class-time or that i left my canalphone and mp3 player at home… Maybe it’s the early naptime at 10PM last night.
Yesterday i lost a earbud for one of my canalphone piece during a light hailstorm. I was closing my shoulder bag but then suddenly the cross-body strap has knocked the earbud that was attached to my canalphone which was hanging from my t-shirt collar. I tried to pick it up while waiting for the green green pedestrian light but had trouble finding it. The earbud was grey and so was the street concrete. After that, i knew i had to order another pair of replacement earbud online… It was a time coming anyway because those earbuds were always lose and could easily be pulled off. Without that, i can’t listen to my music while travelling.
Anyway, back to today’s story. So after my class, i sent a friend a message if she would like to meet in front of Centraal Station to visit the public library. She didn’t have time and so we organised another time instead. On my way to gym at Spuistraat i felt so relaxed. The shoulder was done and less strained and just pacing down the usual tourist-clogged roads. There was less than expected tourists around Dam Square for a strange reason when there were sunlight piercing the clouds above.
The gym session was pretty normal. The studio was open before 4PM curfew which allowed me to use the weights inside. On may way walking back home i bought parmesian cheese. Was really pleased about the wide selection of cheese available form Spain, germany, Italy, Belgium and Holland. All genuine and freshly imported. The parmesian was already carved up from a big orange wheel as big as medium-sized car tyre.
On my way back home i was standing at the exact place i lost my earbud. I knew that if i hurry up again and scan the ground, i may be lucky to find it. And there it was. It was positioned on the red concrete bike lane. What are the chances of finding it!
I was quite prepared to not listen to my music until a replacement earbud was shipped over, which would take 2 weeks to arrive. Maybe i should use the mp3 player less often while commuting. It seems it increases my stress level and not enjoy the scenery of Amsterdam while being contained in my own little musical world with only me - myself - and I.
